Mini biography:
Raven-tressed young actress who won a nationwide talent search run by Norman Lear, and landed the part of the annoying preppie, Muffy, on the TV sitcom "Square Pegs." She made her film debut in the now legendary 1981 bomb Endless Love (starring Brooke Shields) and, as if to make amends, went on to study drama at New York University. She subsequently appeared in such films as Sixteen Candles, Alphabet City (both 1984), Mischief (1985), Crossroads, Quicksilver, Solarbabies (all 1986), and The Lost Boys (1987), always cast as a fresh-faced teenager but somehow escaping inclusion in the 1980s "Brat Pack" of young actors. Less Than Zero (1987), an annoying screen version of Bret Easton Ellis' briefly trendy novel, gave her a chance to stretch somewhat as one of the cocaine-era "lost generation" of spoiled, wealthy college kids in Beverly Hills. Other credits include Listen to Me, Renegades (both 1989), Sibling Rivalry (1990), and Don't Tell Her It's Me (1991), as well as the 1991 TV sitcom "Sibs," and the 1994 TV movie This Can't Be Love.
